If you wish to submit your film online to us and pay the fee, you can if you are registered with Festhome where you can upload your films or send them via vimeo links or if you aren’t registered with festhome you can send us the vimeo, youtube link but we will not consider it unless we have received paypal submission payment first
or if you prefer to submit by sending us a dvd or data disc i.e mov or mp4, read the guidelines and instructions below
When is the deadline for submissions?
The deadline for submitting short films to the festival is May 16th Friday we shall be taking the guidelines and paypal link down from the website and picking from our selection.
How long does the film have to be?
Your film can be as short as 1 minute but no longer than 15 minutes, this is for our short film blocks to be screened on the Friday at the backpackers from 7-8.30pm and the Saturday 3-5pm or 7-9pm at the Craigmonie Theatre in Drum.
Does my film have to be in a certain category to be accepted?
We accept any short film of any genre but make sure you have a storyline not just live performance and make them entertaining and also smutty or Pornographic films will not be accepted but feel free to send them in!
I don’t live in Scotland or the UK. Can I submit a film?
We are looking for national and international submissions so yes. However your finished DVD will have to be in the PAL format or send us a data disc with your film on a digital file such as mov. or mp4 or h.26. Also, if your film is not in the English language then it should contain English subtitles.
How old do I have to be to submit a film?
You need to be over 18 years old to make a submission to the festival.
When does my film have to be in by?
Submissions are closed on Friday, May the 16th when the submissions page is taken down, we then chose from the selection of short films and notify the selected filmmakers about the blocks their film will be shown in.
What else is required to submit to the festival?
We require all filmmakers to pay the submission fee of £10 via our paypal link on the website and to fill out our quick submission form to post off with your film on dvd or data disc to our address. If no submission fee is paid then your film will not be considered for selection.
Can I send more than one film?
No, we are only doing 2-3 short film blocks this year at the most, so spaces are limited this year and we want as many filmmakers to have their short film screened.
What about copyright?
You must have copyright clearance for all work submitted. This includes any music that may be contained in your film or films. This is not the responsibility of the festival organisers and by submitting your films you give us access and permission to screen your film at the Loch Ness Film Festival event and for any promotional purposes for the festival.
What other information do you need?
Along with 1 dvd pal copy version or data dvd of your film please fill out the form below and post it to the below address and pay the submission fee from our paypal link
